چکیده
Abstract Hydrochar a carbon-rich material resulting from hydrothermal carbonization of biomass, has received substantial attention because its potential application in various areas such as carbon sequestration, bioenergy production and environmental amelioration. A series hydrochars were prepared by metal chloride-assisted rice husk characterized elemental analysis, zeta potential, X-ray diffraction, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller measurements, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric photoelectron spectroscopy scanning electron microscopy. The results reveal that the have contents ranging 45.01 to 58.71%, BET specific between 13.23 45.97 m 2 /g, rich O-containing functional groups on surfaces. chlorides added feedwater could improve degree show significant effects physical, chemical adsorption properties hydrochars. selected organics is spontaneous physisorption-dominated process. possess larger capacities for 2-naphthol than berberine hydrochloride Congo red, modeling maximum are range 170.1–2680 mg/g. equilibrium be accomplished 10, 40 30 min 2-naphthol, respectively. These suggest promising method converting biomass waste into effective adsorbents wastewater treatment.

Characterization of hydrochars produced by hydrothermal carbonization of rice husk
Biochar is the carbon-rich product obtained when biomass, such as wood, manure or leaves, is heated in a closed container with little or no available air. In more technical terms, biochar is produced by so-called thermal decomposition of organic material under limited supply of oxygen (O2), and at relatively low temperatures (< 700 C). Hydrochar differentiates from biochar because it is produce...
متن کاملCarmine Adsorption from Aqueous Solution by Crosslinked Peanut Husk
To observe the feasibility of the removal of carmine, peanut husk, an agriculture by-product, was crosslinked with epichlorohydrin in alkaline medium and used for adsorption of carmine from aqueous solution. Batch experiments were carried out to study the effects of various parameters such as initial pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage and initial carmine concentration, as ...
متن کاملCharacterization of H3PO4-Treated Rice Husk Adsorbent and Adsorption of Copper(II) from Aqueous Solution
Rice husk, a surplus agricultural byproduct, was applied to the sorption of copper from aqueous solutions. Chemical modifications by treating rice husk with H3PO4 increased the sorption ability of rice husk for Cu(II). This work investigated the sorption characteristics for Cu(II) and examined the optimum conditions of the sorption processes. The elemental compositions of native rice husk and H...
متن کاملRemoval of Chromium ( III ) from Aqueous Solution by Coconut Husk and Rice Straw
Coconut husk fibre and rice straw were found to be able to remove significant amount of Cr (III) ions from aqueous solutions. Its removal is a function of pH and concentration. The optimum pH range for maximum uptake is between 4 and 6 for both substrates. The adsorption capacity was found to be 0.55 and 0.30 millimole Cr (III) / g substrate for coconut husk and rice straw respectively. The ads...
متن کاملAdsorptive removal of Cu(II) from aqueous solution using modified rice husk
In this study, the modified rice husk was tested to remove Cu(II) from water. Batch experiments were carried out to evaluate the adsorption characteristics of the modified rice husk for Cu(II) removal from aqueous solutions. The adsorption isotherms, thermodynamic parameters, kinetics, pH effect, and desorbability were examined. The results show that the maximum adsorption capacity of the modif...
